Judith Miller Screwed the US
This something brought up elsewhere, but for the life of me I can't remember where. I saw something on AMERICABlog that reminded me, though, so here ya go.
Had Judith Miller spoken up when she was originally called before Fitzgerald, way back in August 2004, what might have happened?
Here's what I think (and this is totally my non-educated opinion):
UPDATE: What does the President do when he finds out that Scooter is up for a 30-year term and that his right-hand man (and his brain) is still in danger? What every patriotic, evil-hating American does: Goes to Camp David to "ponder" the next choice for SCOTUS. Second vacation in as many months. Bastard.

Here's what I think (and this is totally my non-educated opinion):
- Scooter would have been indicted in October 2004
- Scooter would have resigned in October 2004
- Kerry could have said something like (and this is a hypothetical paraphrase), "This is the guy who talks about national security? WTF?"
- Bush would have freaked
- Rove would have shat his pants sooner
- Bush would have been a single-termer like his Daddy

Okay...
Now that we dipped into politics.....let's here your religious beliefs or lack there of.
Great conversational piece on a first date! ;) I might have to get bea's political views...that would be quite interesting. Or newbea's?
*hear ....err, I would be so banned in the intellectual room if they ever knew I made a typo!
For shame! Get the red pen out!
I was raised Catholic, but their insistence keeping a familial and political hierarchy that I think would make Jesus vomit convinced me this was not the place for me, as a lesbian or as a woman. I considered myself a Recovering Catholic until Pope John Paul II, the last vestige of the faith of my youth, died. Now I consider myself ex-Catholic, though I will beat the crap out of people who give the Church shit for the hell of it. Christianity, at least here, seems to have become such a way to find new people to pick on, and I'll have nothing to do with that.
I pretty much avoid religion, now. Growing up in the Deep South warped me as far as knowing what I really believe. I tend to go more along the lines of passive Buddhism, which means I adhere to most of the tenets, but am too damned lazy to actually commit to getting up early in the morning to do anything about it. I studied Zen for awhile, but ADD messed that up...try to sit and not think, or to let the thoughts just go and don't attach to them...I dare you.
And no red pens here. This is NOT intellies.
The thing about my relationship with God is that there is no commitment other than loving Him, and trying to be a good person. Waking up every Sunday morning to sit in a pew listening to some pastor will not get you a free ticket into heaven. Being a good person, having faith and ‘doing unto others’ is a good step to take.
From what I gather, you are discouraged by Catholics and Christians due to the ‘people’ in the church. Most are hypocrites! They’ll bash you and tell you, “You’re an abomination to God!” Meanwhile, back at the ranch, they’re all enjoying a nice shrimp scampi, or a delicious lobster dinner. Do you know that eating shellfish in itself is an abomination to God?
This is all of the “Old Testament”---Christianity is purely based on the New Testament. People are human; they can’t help but to ‘judge’.
All those bible thumpers fail to read this scripture:
“Stop judging others, and you will not be judged. For others will treat you as you treat them. Whatever measure you use in judging others, it will be used to measure how you are judged. And why worry about a speck in your friend’s eye when you have a log in your own? How can you think of saying, “Let me help you get rid of that speck in your eye,” when you can’t see past the log from your own eye; then perhaps you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend’s eye.” ~Matthew 7:5
Maybe if the world wasn’t so judgmental and became more accepting, we’d be united more with every community instead of separating ourselves.
Whatever religion “you” follow, make sure that you don’t let others discourage you from your faith. Whatever works for you---is your personal decision.
