Yesterday I almost fell off the chair because I had so much page views like never.
This morning I fell off the waggon due to another reason.
As I am enjoying the sunshine this early September it is difficult to believe it is autumn.
In autumn the element of air is increased. Ayurveda and yoga recognise five different elements: Space, Air, Fire, Water and Earth. It is believed that we and all around us are made of a unique combination of these elements. In a person the elements combine with each other and manifest as the three Doshas (Vata, Pitta and Kapha). Our constitution is a unique combination of the doshas. If the doshas get out of balance we experience ill health in mind, body or emotions.
Autumn is generally described as being windy, cool, with a feeling of dryness and it is time of change. The change from summer turning into winter. These qualities symbolise the element of Air. When there is an increase of Air in our surroundings it will increase the same qualities in our body and mind. In ayurveda this relates to an aggravated Vata dosha.
During this time of seasonal change we will try to balance and reduce anything that may aggravate Vata dosha and the Air element in our body.
- Enjoy warm food with sweet, a little spicy, sour and salty tastes. And avoid cold raw salads. Skip the frappucinos and enjoy a mug of spicy warm chai. Porridge is great as breakfast and have a look at Rachel’s blog for the great pumpkin recipes, create your own stews and soups.
- My favorite is a nice massage with warm oils. Sesame oil is slightly warming in nature and reduces Vata. So give yourself a massage with a heated sesame oil (coldpressed and organic). If not the whole body then just your feet and any painful joints. This also alleviates the dry skin which can increase during autumn and winter.
- Your favorite yoga asana, pose, is a relaxing and grounding pose such as forward bends, squats or balancing poses like tree pose. All calming down an aggravated Vata dosha and Air element.
In ayurveda we aim to keep our doshas in equilibrium by adjusting our diet and nutrition, lifestyle including yoga and breathing exercises, herbal remedies or body treatments to suit our doshic balance. So listen to the surrounding and to your body. Both will give you a very good indication of what you need right now!

Yesterday I almost fell off my chair. What is that, I wondered? I had 1713 page views on only one day and more than 746 unique visitors. This is more than double as much as usual. Most visitors came from this page. Thank you, thank you to that person who linked me. So it can go.

I love Who Wore It Better pictures so I thought I’d post this.. Totally bit it off Yahoo! but oh well! So who do you think wore this Antonio Berardi dress better?
Ashley Greene looks stunning in her cream dress which I think is appropriate for the warm, sunny weather (it’s still warm here in CA at least.) I like that the other side of her “faux bra” is showing whereas with Blake, only one side is peeking out. I’m bored with the black that Blake’s wearing and I’m not too fond of her heels’ weird looking platforms. To me, Blake’s version looks almost like a work or funeral dress except for the peek-a-boo bra part. I just love Ashley’s overall fit -her hair, earrings, shoes, and the white dress and it also doesn’t hurt that (to me) she’s way prettier! =P
Maybe this is all because I’m Twilight-obsessed but Ashley gets 2 thumbs up from me. =) What do you think? Who wore it better?

Repurchase: No
Price: $3.99 (0.32 oz)
Product: 20/25
Packaging: 3.5/5
Value: 9.5/10
Overall Grade: B-
I picked up Wet ‘n’ Wild’s
MegaGlo Illuminating Powder in Spotlight Peach while at Rite Aid a few weeks ago. I was tempted to get 2 Color Icon blushes but did my best to buy a good assortment of products instead of having a bunch of the
same stuff to review.
The Packaging: The MegaGlo powders are packaged in tins with twist-on lids. The lids have a silver “framing” with a clear middle to show off the product inside. The packaging is cheap and made of good ol’ plastic -I’m not too fond of it but for the price, it works.
Product Description & Directions
The Product: You get 0.32 oz for just under 4 bucks -that’s twice the size of 1 NARS Blush for 1/6 the price!
The product itself can be used as a highlighter or blush. I preferred the powder “mixed” because individually, each color did not have very good payoff (the 1st shade to the left had the best payoff.) However, mixed together, there was plenty of pigmentation and the color was beautiful. As a blush, this looks fairly neutral and light on my medium skin tone which is why I prefer it as a highlighter. It looks different from most pale highlighters -it instead gives a warm glow.
The formula felt smooth on my skin and wasn’t irritating which is always a plus. The only downsides were that I found it to be slightly on the powdery side and that it wasn’t very long lasting -for me, it lasted about 2 hours without primer.
The Color: All shades have a nice “sheen” to them.
1. Light peach with silver shimmer
2. Dark browned terracotta
3. Warm burnt orange red
4. Pale but bright baby pink
5. (Mixed) Warm, medium, peachy-bronze rosy coral with shimmer
Above (no flash) from left: Wet ‘n’ Wild MegaGlo Illuminating Powder in Spotlight Peach 1, 2, 3, 4
Above (with flash) from left: Wet ‘n’ Wild MegaGlo Illuminating Powder in Spotlight Peach (mixed)
Overall: I do like the powder but I wouldn’t repurchase it. It’s really good for the price but my other highlighters and blushes give better color payoff and last longer. However, I do think this is really good if you’re looking for a cheap, but good quality, highlighter that gives a warm glow unlike the usual light beige and pink highlighters.

To apply the correct stretching technique is so important, because progress comes faster. It seems to be a contradition, but it isn’t: in order to stretch, it’s helpful to engage the muscles.
The entire law is summed up in a single command:
“Love your neighbor as yourself.”

Aside from the fact that here boobies are pushed up to her chin, I think Courtney looks really good -especially considering the fact that she’s 46. I’m just not used to seeing her this way since I normally see pictures where she looks like this..
And this
And this!
I hope she keeps this up though because she’s really a pretty girl. I just love the sleek red dress on her and the clean makeup.

Having repeatedly failed to establish a practice in the house, I had planned to move to the Y (at the north end of town, same as last fall/winter/spring) and just set up the ritual early.

I feel much better today. I must have slept, this is for sure. At 7am I woke up and I got up. I woke up without alarm clock, but I felt tired. The eyes are open and want to be closed and that at the same time. This jet lag feeling is no more that awful. I was even able to do some chores already. First I cut the dead flowers on my balcony. The freshness opened my eyes. Later I cleaned the dishes, I put our dirty clothes in the washing machine. Slowly I unpack my suitcase. I will nap 1 hour or so very soon. Afterwards I’ll practice. I am not yet ready to step on my mat. It will be second series today, an early afternoon practice. Who cares.

Next Moon Day: Thursday, September 23, 2010.
From Dena Kingsberg:
“Both full and new moon days are observed as yoga holidays in the Ashtanga Yoga tradition.
What is the reasoning behind this?
Like all things of a watery nature (human beings are about 70% water), we are affected by the phases of the moon. The phases of the moon are determined by the moon’s relative position to the sun. Full moons occur when they are in opposition and new moons when they are in conjunction. Both sun and moon exert a gravitational pull on the earth.” read on

I’ve been beyond busy with school -I’m literally falling asleep as I write this. Today’s Nudey Tuesday will be super quick (hope you don’t mind.) I couldn’t stand the thought of not doing a Nudey Tuesday or doing it late so I grabbed the first 5 nude lipsticks I saw out of my makeup drawer.
And the lucky winners are..
For no particular reason, except to go with the film theme, here’s Charlie Chaplin directing one of his movies, taken from an article called something like ‘A Day with Charlie Chaplin’ from the April 1929 edition of The Strand. The first six months of 1929 had more interesting non-fiction features packed into them than the rest of the decade put together. Chaplin’s star was already on the wane, although he was still one of the highest paid people in Hollywood – and the growth of the talkies didn’t help. Interesting to read about a megastar’s life back then. He was just as precious and difficult as megastars today, one gathers.
The highlight of the article was when some bloke approaches him on set, stares at him, and before being thrown off, says: ‘That’s not him!’ The assumption is that he is some sort of looney stalker. While The Strand journalist is with Chaplin in a restaurant in the evening the same guy approaches. What will happen? But he apologises. He says he hasn’t seen his son in years and someone told him he’d gone to Hollywood and changed his name to Charlie Chaplin! Bizarre.

There are:
1. balancing asanas
2. forward bending asanas
3. back bending asanas
4. twists
5. inversions
6. others (because some asanas I cannot categorize)
The distinction is not difficult or easy.
Nevertheless in sum I had a difficult practice. The right leg is still overstretched. It heals only slowly, very slowly. This is all part of it.
A hot tip here: Asthanga yoga requires a daily practice. 3 days off is too much. To practice daily, at least some sun salutation, helps to keep the body soft and strong.
Today it was easier to practice than yesterday, but still very exhausting.
The body felt stiff.
My arms got weak.
The weather in Brazil was better, here it is already cold, this is not so supportive either. I don’t want to complain.
I had started with the CD by Sharath. This is helpful as it does not allow much thinking. I did each and every asana.
Time to go out. The sun is shining.

It’s only 5 hours difference to Brazil, but this makes THE difference. I still jet lag. I had difficulties to sleep in, even though I went to bed late, means 11pm. I didn’t hear my alarm clock, which I had set at 6am. At 9am I was still sooooooo tired that I didn’t find the way out of the bed. Now it’s 10:30am. In Brazil it’s 5:30am. I’m not amused that I get up so late, not at all. This jet lag makes a mess out of my day.
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interest of others.

Price: $8.99 (0.13 oz)

Value: 9/10
Overall Grade: B+
The Packaging: Revlon ColorBurst Lipsticks are packaged in sleek matte black tubes with quilted detailing (reminiscent of Chanel.) I think they’re the prettiest drugstore lipstick tubes but I do have one gripe -why doesn’t the quilted design go all around the tube? It alternates from quilted to solid all around the tube (see above photo.) The lipstick name is located on the bottom and the top of the cap displays a color “block” depicting the shade inside. Also, one thing that I really like is that “Revlon” is imprinted into the actual lipstick giving it a classy feel.
Ingredients
The Product: I love the formula of Revlon ColorBurst lipsticks and I really think they’re the best of any I’ve tried. While the lipstick doesn’t necessarily feel moisturizing to me, it does keep my lips soft without stripping away any moisture and drying out my lips. I love how light it feels on and the fact that it neither sinks into my lip lines nor looks patchy. I also absolutely love that the lipstick contains no taste or scent and to top it off, the lipstick has very good color payoff -it can be sheer but buildable. The lipstick lasts about 3 hours on me and fades away gradually leaving a very subtle berry stain.
The Color: Revlon ColorBurst’s Lilac is a slightly plummy mauve-lilac with silver shimmer. When I first swatched Lilac, I immediately thought of Up The Amp (from MAC.) However, when I swatched the 2 side by side, I noticed that they were actually very different. Lilac looks slightly sheer while Up The Amp is darker and very pigmented.
Swatches..

Above (no flash): Revlon ColorBurst in Lilac
Overall: I absolutely love Revlon ColorBurst Lipsticks but I don’t think Lilac is a good color on me right now (because I currently have very light brown, almost blonde hair.) However, it’s an absolutely gorgeous shade and I think it’ll look better when I go back to dark brown/black hair. I urge anyone who loves lilac/purple lippies to give this a try -it’s a steal even at the regular retail price ($8.99) considering the quality.

Heard this on the soundtrack of a Chilean movie, kind of recognised it, loved it and went searching to find out what it was. Immediately bought the ‘best of’ album – but alas, everything apart from ‘Black Is Black’ is cheesy naffness. No big surprise now that I see the band in the (plastic?) flesh. Not sure how the singer manages to have such a good voice with a mouth full of Stilton. And someone really needs to get Joe 90 a smaller guitar, it’ll strain his little body. Oh well. It’s still a top bit of psych-inspired pop.

I love this illustration. It’s beautifully drawn, with dramatic ‘lighting’ and a real sense of menace as well as style. The illustrator is new to me – Jack Faulks. It illustrates a tense scene from one of a series of crime stories set in the Far East by Henry De Vere Stacpoole, the author of The Blue Lagoon. It’s from the March 1929 edition of The Strand.

Huge, horrible, underwater creepy-crawlie illustrating the second of the two parts of The Lord of the Dark Face, a short sequel to The Maracot Deep by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Not only is the horrid earwiggy thing enormous and armed with scary pincers, it can shoot out killer volts like an electric eel – lucky that poor fish got in the way of the blast or our heroes would have been done for. I’m thinking of reproducing the instalments of The Maracot Deep and The Lord of the Dark Face in book form. All I have to do is scan them, set up a print-on-demand account and find a way of letting people know it’s available – but the latter bit is the hard bit.

I wondered what did not hurt today. I knew why I postponed my practice to the afternoon. 3 days I was without a yoga practice. But that it can that bad astonished even me:
- the joints were rusty,
- the muscles felt poisoned,
- the second toe is still swollen,
- my left knee hurt
- and my upper right leg, where the harmstrings meet the buttocks tortured me each time I stretched the right leg. This was the worst.
Mentally I still need some time to arrive. Time flies. It’s already afternoon and nothing happened so far. I took a bath, which was relaxing, but this was it. Somehow I feel in a vacuum. I am at home, but not yet arrived. I am nowhere. I look around and must smile because we were considerered very well organized in Natal. It’s all relative.
Time to unpack my suitcase.

I look around here in our flat in Munich and I see mess. This gives me the schedule of the day: I must unpack my suitcase, I must do the laundry. This has priority among all the chores.
My reputation in Brazil as a clean and organized person motivates me.

Every 5 minutes I changed the position. I moved my body from the left side to the right side. Then I thought to be on the back is perhaps the best position. To be in savasana should help. But to find sleep seemed to be impossible the last night in Portugal. I had a vodka-caipphi-fruit cocktail before going to bed in one of the restaurants there. But this mixture didn’t help either. I was sleepless, pretending to sleep. Then I heard the room neighbours fucking. The man seemed to enjoy what happened, he was moaning. I looked at my watch: 1:30am. I listened but soon the session was over: a quickie after midnight. Nothing that made me jealous. Then I heard the man talking for a minute or so, he seemed to be the expressive one. Silence again. I was still not sleeping. Finally the alarm clock told me to get up, it was 4:30am. I was relieved. Later in the plane I slept. “Look”, E woke me up, “there is Bearitz (France), we’ll go there one day.” “I come with you”, I told him and slept again.
Yesterday we were at the Greek restaurant in the evening. I had a retsina and 2 ouzos to my artichokes and salad. This should help me to sleep. At 9:15pm I was in bed and I slept. At 1am I woke up. “Impossible”, I thought. I counted. Twelve, eleven, ten, nine, eight, ……..at eight I was not yet tired in Brazil. It was impossible to sleep again. I stayed in bed, pretending to sleep. At 6am the alarm clock told me to get up. I had found some sleep by then. I switched off the alarm clock, I was tired, now I was tired!!!! I counted: five, four, three, two, one. Yep usually I was in deep sleep in Brazil at that time. I slept another 3 hours.

The idea was to practice next to the swimming pool in the hotel, when we were in Lisboa, Portugal. The room was too small to practice, even for me. I still like that place next to the swimming pool. But we strolled around in beautiful Lisboa. And that was it and it was fantastic.

I know I’ve written about Venomous Villains like a billion times by now but I finally have my “final thoughts” of everything. I stopped by Bloomies yesterday while shopping in the city and nearly fainted when I saw the Venomous Villains display up at the MAC counter. I’ve been in a tug-a-war with the collection since the news first broke out the MAC and Disney were collaborating. I was excited, then it disappeared, then excited again, then not, and so on. So just when I started being un-excited (for the last few weeks), my excitement grew again! I think just seeing Disney + MAC in together IN person made my day.
This is a preview of
UPDATE: My Official (to buy) List for MAC Venomous Villains, Quick Review, & Thoughts

The idea was to practice next to the swimming pool in the hotel, when we were in Lisboa, Portugal. The room was too small to practice, even for me. I still like that place next to the swimming pool. But we strolled around in beautiful Lisboa. And that was it and it was fantastic.
We are at home again. I jet lag. Can only 5 hours time difference make me feel so tired? Obviously, yes.

Taming the Tongue
1 Not many of you should presume to be teachers, my brothers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly.
2 We all stumble in many ways. If anyone is never at fault in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to keep his whole body in check.
3 When we put bits into the mouths of horses to make them obey us, we can turn the whole animal. 4 Or take ships as an example. Although they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are steered by a very small rudder wherever the pilot wants to go.
5 Likewise the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark.
6 The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole person, sets the whole course of his life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.
7 All kinds of animals, birds, reptiles and creatures of the sea are being tamed and have been tamed by man, 8 but no man can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.
9 With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God’s likeness. 10 Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers, this should not be. 11 Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring? 12 My brothers, can a fig tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water.

Today I’m reviewing one of the products from my recent Wet ‘n’ Wild haul -the Color Icon Palette in Lust. I’ve heard so many raves about Wet ‘n’ Wild’s Color Icon eyeshadows I knew I’d have to give them a try. I decided to step out of my comfort zone this time around and get a more “colorful” palette instead of opting for my usual neutrals.
The Packaging: The eyeshadows are packaged in your usual clear, plastic palettes like most other drugstore palettes. At the bottom, there’s a small compartment that holds the 2 “brushes” includes -a sponge applicator and a stumpy “brush” that I’d never use.
Product Description & Directions
Ingredients
The Product: Considering the fact that it was just under 5 bucks, I was really impressed by this palette. On the upside, every shade had great color payoff, the eyeshadows felt soft and smooth, and they last almost all day with primer. They’re not as long lasting as my favorites from NARS and LORAC but it’s still a great product for the price.
On the downside, I found the blending a bit difficult. When I did blend, the color would fade a lot. I tried it on top of UDPP (which didn’t fully fix the problem) and also on top of a MAC Paint Pot. On top of a Paint Pot, the color didn’t fade but the blending was still a little difficult. Also, the eyeshadows are slightly on the powdery/chalky side and there’s a lot of fallout.

“Night Look” Directions
Wet ‘n’ Wild Color Icon Palette in Lust
The Color: The palette features 3 matte and 3 shimmer eyeshadows -all of which are very pigmented.
1. Pale, matte ballerina pink
2. Slightly warm beige with silver shimmer
3. Matte, medium plummy eggplant purple
4. Dark onyx with a silvery blue edge and silver shimmer
5. Very dark, matte inky eggplant purple that’s almost black
6. Very dark (almost black) smokey gray with violet shimmer
Swatches..
Above (no flash) from left: Wet ‘n’ Wild “Lust” Color Icon Palette in 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6
Overall: I really do wish I’d tried Wet ‘n’ Wild’s Color Icon eyeshadows sooner. The shades are so pigmented and the colors are so beautiful. I did have trouble with the blending but with a little work, the outcome can be gorgeous.

Partly in answer to Jim’s recent posting of sleazy garage hits from the 60s, here are The Stranglers bringing their psychedelic influences to the fore with their sinister 1978 version of the Dionne Warwick classic (a vid I was chuffed to find cos I’ve never seen it before). Unfortunately, the crap single edit loses you Dave Greenfield’s awesome 3 minutes-plus psych keyboard solo, so I will post the full 6-minute version, too.

Two of my favourite 50s sci-fi movies, both ‘ITs’. It Came From Outer Space is an acknowledged classic, of course, with its literate Ray Bradbury script which introduced many themes later to become cliches: the desert setting, misunderstood monster and aliens masquerading as humans. First (I think) use of Theramine soundtrack, creepy monster-eye-view camera work and the most sophisticated 3D process then invented – so sophisticated it was never used again and it’s impossible now to see it in 3D (the excellent documentary extra on the DVD convinces you just what a real loss this is).
It- The Terror etc is much, much better than its naff title would suggest. Indeed Ridley Scott mentioned it as an influence on Alien. Spaceship goes to Mars to find out what happened to an earlier expedition, only to find everyone dead except, suspiciously, the captain. He babbles on about a monster coming out of the dark to kill them one by one, but they think he murdered his crew in order to live off their rations till help arrives. Needless to say, said monster climbs on board before they take off and in the depths of space starts killing off this crew, too. ‘It’ is just a bloke in a rubber suit, but is largely kept in the shadows, fortunately. The film becomes increasingly claustrophobic as the unstoppable creature gets through first one bulkead and then another, advancing floor by floor and forcing the crew into the confined space of the nose-cone. Good stuff.

There were tons of sales going on at CVS this week so I’d figured I’d give
Revlon ColorBurst Lipsticks another try -this time in Peach.
This is a great week to buy any Revlon products (at CVS.) The coupons I used for my purchases were Buy 1 Get 1 Half Off Revlon, $4 off $20 purchase, $3 off Revlon purchase, free Beauty Charm with $15 Purchase, and two $1 off Revlon (retailer) coupons. That’s a total of $9 off plus the free charm.
The Packaging: The lipstick is packaged in a matte black tube with quilted detailing that alternates around the tube. I really wish the quilting would go all around the tube because it slightly cheapens it. The top of the cap displays a color square depicting the lipstick shade while the bottom of the tube has the color name written on it. I also do like that the lipstick itself is imprinted with the word “Revlon.”
Ingredients
The Product: I said it before when I reviewed
Carnation but this is the best drugstore lipstick I’ve tried formula-wise. The lipstick feels nice on my lips and actually keeps my lips soft unlike so many other drugstore lipsticks. When I take it off, my lips are still in the condition as before applying the lipstick (no more moisturized or dry.) Also, it feels light on the lips, doesn’t sink into my lips lines, and isn’t patchy. The color payoff is great -it can be semi-sheer but still buildable. Also, the lipstick doesn’t have a smell or taste and lasts for 3 hours and fades gradually.
The Color: Peach is a warm, darkened, but bright, slightly orange-red peach with tiny silver shimmers.

Overall: I know this is sort of expensive for a drugstore product but I really can’t believe how good it is. To me, it compares to and is even better than some higher-end lipsticks but priced at the low-end price. The only thing is, I really wasn’t feeling this color -especially with my new hair color. It’s too loud for me personally but may work for those who like brighter shades or already have pigmented lips to begin with (I’ve heard of this being a good MLBB color for some.) I’d repurchase this but in a different shade -still trying to find a ColorBurst shade that works for me.

The article in the March 1929 edition of The Strand that kicked off with the photo of the robot, posted yesterday then continued with stuff about sound recording and artifical music. The top pic is a scan of a page with two photos of the the early ‘Talkies’. A frightfully stern chap and his gal are menaced by a huge chunk of metal for simultaneous sound-and-picture recording, and above you can see the results – masses of ticker-tape type stuff pouring out of massive kiosk-sized hunks of machinery.
The photo immediately above though is really fascinating – it shows M. Theramine showing off his self-named instrument to Sir Henry Wood (of Proms fame) and Sir Oliver Lodge, a celebrated physicist who was also a champion of spiritualism. His interest in the Theramine – which rather languished until 50s sci-fi movies and psychedelia came about decades later – was probably because of the suggestion that the inventor was apparently manipulating the ‘ether’ to create the sounds.

Mold-based archdruids of ffync cymru Diffiniad were good fun, although I was more of a fan of, and good friends with, guitarist Iwan’s other band Jylopis. Unfortunately, the only format Jylopis seem to survive in is old cassette. Certainly, there are no videos on YouTube (but quite a lot of Diffiniad). I’ve got a few on VHS recorded off Welsh telly but until I sort out VHS-digital transfer, that’s where they’ll stay. Not sure when this dates from. 1992? 93?

RAM BASHING AND HOW TO END THIS
Once again this is true that these events have to be combined. But these events when combined provide the inescapable conclusion that both Shri Ram and Devi Sita suffered personally, for the sake of humanity to establish Agni Pariksha as an Adharm and end atrocities on females.
What exactly is Ram Bashing?
Ram bashing is FALSE blame about ALLEGED atrocities committed by Shri Ram on his wife Sita. He is blamed for asking Sita to undergo the dreadful fire test to test her piousness. This test is called Agni Pariksha. And in spite of her successfully undertaking the FIRE TEST, Ram is blamed for disowning Sita, when she was pregnant. It is alleged that he did this to appease his public. There were members in the general public of Ayodhya, then, who felt that after the stay of Sita at Raven’s place, Ram should not accept her as Queen.
Now the above mentioned events are accepted as historical facts. No one is denying them. But the serious problem is that because of excessive use of interpretations and interpolations in explaining events of Ramayan, these events are combined to construct and blame Ram for atrocities on Sita. And that is exactly what Ram Bashing is all about.
Once again this is true that these events have to be combined. But these events when combined provide the inescapable conclusion that both Shri Ram and Devi Sita suffered personally, for the sake of humanity to establish Agni Pariksha as an Adharm and end atrocities on females.
The first thing to keep in mind is that Hindus accept and believe that Shri Ram and Devi Sita are human incarnation of Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi, respectively.
The other things that have to be remembered before drawing any conclusion are as follows:
1. Shri Ram asked Sita to undergo the fearful and dreaded fire test, popularly known as Agni Pariksha. But then we forget that both Shri Ram and Devi Sita were human incarnation of God and as Human their main purpose was to establish Dharm and end atrocities by abolishing Adharm. Once we accept the theory of Human incarnation of God, it automatically presupposes that NO SUPERNATURAL or MIRACULOUS powers were available to any of the characters of Ramayan.
2. It is important to mention briefly that History everywhere in the world had been subjected to interpretations and interpolations. For further details one can read the post: INTERPRETATION and INTERPOLATION in Ramayan . One thing is to be remembered about History. History is always FACTS PLUS PRESENTATION. History is based on facts; presentation is based on convenience of the powers to be.

Brazil is far away already. Yesterday I still watched the youngsters playing soccer at the beach.
Right now I’m in a hotel in Portugal. We just paid 20 Euro for internet connection for one day in a 5 star hotel. It’s not even wifi. We had to find where to plug in the cable that they gave us at the reception. The woman at the reception told us that we could plug in the cable behind the desk. But I couldn’t plug the cable in there, behind the desk was nothing. I called. The connection should be close to the phone. I really want to complain. Are they behind the moon here, it’s standard nowadays to have wifi. Point. What a shame for so called “developped” countries when they don’t offer the same service like much poorer countries.

Repurchase: Yes
Price: $23.00 (0.13 oz)
Product: 23/25
Packaging: 4.3/5
Value: 8.5/10
Overall Grade: A-
The Packaging: The clear, plastic tube is unique and playful and while I love its different look, I am afraid that it could break if I’m not careful with it. (The plastic doesn’t feel cheap like many drugstore lipstick tubes -it’s does have a heavier feel.)
Ingredients!
The Product: The lipstick is very hydrating unlike so many of my other lipsticks. It actually keeps my lips feeling moisturized throughout the day -even if my lips are feeling dry. PK 344 applies smoothly and evenly without sinking into my lip lines. The color is sheer but buildable -2 or 3 layers will give you great color payoff.
There is a slight floral scent to the lipstick but it disappears once it’s applied. The lipstick wears for about 3-4 hours.
Above: Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited Lipstick in PK 344
The Color: PK 344 is a light-medium bubblegum pink with a lilac edge.

Above (no flash): Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited Lipstick in PK 344
Overall: PK 344 was right at the borderline of A-/B+ and I felt it deserved to be pushed to an A-. The lipstick wears extremely comfortably and is so moisturizing. The only thing I could really ask for is some longer lasting color! I don’t like reapplying my lipstick throughout the day. But other then that, this is a great lipstick -Shu Uemura lippies are my second favorite in my collection.

The photo above is of ‘a robot public speaker that recently opened an exhibition in London’. It kicks off an article about ‘man versus machine’ in the March 1929 edition of The Strand. What struck me, apart from its classic retro art deco look, is that it has ‘R.U.R.’ emblazoned across its chest. This stands, as I’m sure you know, for ‘Rossum’s Universal Robots’, the UK translation of Karel Capek’s famous play which is said to have introduced the word ‘robot’ to the world. In the playwright’s native Czech, robota means ‘forced labour’. According to the Wikipedia article on the play, Capek’s robots were more like clones or androids than mechanical men – a race of subhuman beings bred for slavery.
‘Rossum’s Universal Robots’ was premiered in 1921 (a scene from it is reproduced top). By the end of the decade it seems the word was already fully established in its modern usage. It’s interesting that the ‘robot public speaker’ above should have ‘R.U.R.’ on it – was it built to tie in with a revival of the play or had those initials become so solidly associated with the concept of a robot that the designer automatically added them?
There are several interesting articles in the 1929 editions of The Strand – unusually for the 20s editions – and I’ll post a few more pix from them over the next few days.

Penultimate instalment of my short Dr Who story, entered for a competitioon a couple of years ago.
My eyes were struck by the brightness of the box’s interior and I covered them with my bloody, muddied knuckles. The Doctor guided me to an elegant little chair in the corner of a wide, white room.
‘Before you ask,’ he said, ‘yes, it is bigger on the inside than it is on the outside. This is the Tardis. It is my home. It’s also my transportation. A “cosmic caravan†my friend Ace called it.’
He busied himself with a set of controls ranged on a central dais. A glass column, infused with instrumentation, began to rise and fall and the room juddered. This made me jump and I felt another flash of panic.
‘Don’t be nervous, there’s no need for that now,’ said the Doctor, who had noticed this. ‘I am the one who should be nervous. I know very well how this short trip we’re making is likely to end, and I am afraid it will be on my conscious for a very long time.’
The lights in the room dimmed slightly and from the central column there emerged a weird, metallic scraping.
As the sound faded into a background hum, the Doctor continued: ‘We’ve just got time to clean you up a bit and then… and then I’ll have to put you on show.’
He left me for a few moments, ducking out through a door at the opposite end of the room. I felt a faint vibration and realised we were in motion, that this inexplicable machine was travelling somewhere and taking me with it.
The Doctor soon returned with a silver bowl of steaming water and a towel over one arm. He had removed his jacket and there was something so cheerful and childlike about the pair of bright red braces he was sporting that I found myself smiling. They were reassuring somehow.
‘It’s good to see you smile. I imagine it is a long while since you have done so,’ the Doctor said, and he began to clean and dress my many minor wounds.
‘I owe you an apology for forcing you to view all that horror,’ he said. ‘You have seen more horror in your young lifetime, Zeris, than even an adult with a long, long lifespan such as mine should ever witness. But I believe it will prove necessary. We are on our way to the Hall of the Absolutes. The Absolutes consider themselves the owners of this corner of your galaxy, including the world you live on. They are a cold, proud, amoral race – cousins to my own people. But they have certain powers we do not share. They may intervene to stop the Thlaarx in their massacre. But I doubt it. They will probably need convincing. If so, that is where I hope you will help.’
‘Help? Yes, I’ll help,’ I said.
‘Good boy,’ he said. ‘Although, actually, you won’t really need to do anything.’

So I haven’t quite worked out how I’ll be getting any outfit shots now I’m living in Vancouver. There is nowhere to balance a camera in my room, and there’s just no question of asking a flatmate to take any for me. Having a style blog is a bit of a secret for me; a couple of people know about it. Actually, there’s literally 5 people in my life who know I do this. And explaining why I do it, or why it’s not completely narcissistic or superficial (they’re the words I usually hear on the subject of fashion bloggers) is just not worth the hassle. So, right now, until I sort out something better, you’ve got this:
I love going to Sephora to stock up on free samples! Hey, it’s better then buying a full size product and then returning it used.
4. D&G Perfume (forgot the name but it starts with an “i” ..and she wrote #3 on the bag)
6. MAKE UP FOR EVER HD Microperfecting Primer in 0 Neutral (I actually have this but can’t find it! Didn’t feel like buying a whole bottle knowing there’s one sitting in the house somewhere. Trying to see which I like better compared to Photo Finish.)
I will be doing a bigger post on the Pari brand soon but I have so much to do and I’m so behind!! Their stuff is pretty cool though and I think it’ll be a really interesting post.
And here’s what I picked up from CVS..
1. Neutrogena Healthy Skin Foundation in Fresh Beige & Natural Tan (I bought 2 because I have no idea what color I’ll be. Definitely should’ve waited until next week to use my $3 Neutrogena coupon but I left it at my bf’s house!! Argh)
2. Revlon ColorBurst Lipsticks in Lilac and Peach
3. Pink Lipstick Charm
My CVS Savings?
1. $3 off any Revlon purchase (check the price scanner)
2. $4 off any $20 purchase (check price scanner)
3. Free Beauty Charm valued at ($2.49) with any $15 beauty purchase (check price scanner)
4. 2 $1 off Revlon coupons
5. Rain check for Neutrogena Foundation (50% off)
6. Buy 1 Get 1 Half Off Revlon (Weekly Sale)
I’m not sure I’m keeping the lipsticks because I saw swatches online and I’m not wowed. Plus I hate returning used makeup (feel a little bad) but I’ll probably just keep them for review and pass them onto someone else if I don’t like them.

Her art / practice makes a statement
Her attending the MTV Video Music Awards in a “meat dress” is a statement. She reportedly said that it is not “pro” or “against” vegetarians or meat eaters or anything like that, and explained to Ellen Degeneres it was just a symbol of her not being a piece of meat, but she did not say anything in reality, she just wore a meat suit. This leaves people puzzled, thinking about things, open to reach their own conclusions.

Melissa from
PrincessLisax3 emailed me the other day asking how I got such great savings during one of my CVS visits. I started off writing her a rather lengthy email back and figured I’d just do a post instead -hopefully this information will help some of you.
Just for background, I shop mainly at CVS but have recently started going to Rite Aid (which has the Wellness Program similar to CVS.) I don’t often go to Walgreens because I’ve noticed that their prices can be higher and their sales usually don’t stand out to me like CVS and Rite Aid sales do. They don’t have a “rewards program” exactly like Rite Aid and CVS but they do have Register Rewards that print out on your receipt. (If you want to learn more about Walgreens, check out
this page.)
I am always on the look out for a good deal. Here are some tips to get the most out of your drugstore shopping. These are mainly CVS tips but they pretty much qualify for Rite Aid too.
-
Always scan your CVS or Rite aid card. If you forget it, ask them to look it up. The more you spend (it’s tracked by your card), the more you save. I know this is definitely the case with CVS but I’m pretty sure it’s the same with Rite Aid too.
This is a preview of

Yesterday I started practicing Bekhasana.
At first, as it is always with first time poses, John let me do “my thing”, I guess very cleverly in an attempt to see what I bring to it. Not much I’m afraid.
The sun will keep my body soft, the wind will dry my sweat. As predicted the weather is perfect again for a last practice here in Brazil on the terrace of this hotel. It will be second series with the deep back bending asanas, the heart-opening asanas.

It was at a Richard Freeman lecture that I once started playing with the concept of how far would ahimsha (non harming) go, if say, instead of having a lady bug at the end of your mat, you had a roach.
Of course that actually did happen. Not to me, but to a fellow yogi while at Yoga Sutra in NYC, a few years ago. I heard (and do not know if this is true cause I was not present at the time) that Christopher (Hildebrant) who was the main teacher at the time trapped it with a glass and placed it outside, for it to continue on with his or her New York life right where it belonged, on 42nd street. That is non-harming in action.
A few days ago an insect appeared in the bedroom. I noticed him at night, and then again in the morning. It is not moving much, I suspect he is sick. While I was practicing it occurred to me that maybe he was hungry, so I gave him water and lettuce, and eat he did!. Matter of fact, three days later, right now, he is having dinner of Brussels sprouts and more water.
I have began to look at him directly (you can also in the video below). It is interesting to notice his legs, his movements, his daily routine of dragging himself about one inch closer to this or that part of the window, how he moves his antenna as I approach and talk to him. He also has a yoga practice, as he is very fond of hanging upside down. Flippy, I notice, is a lovely living being, fully present, always looking and paying attention.
I have no idea what the faith of Flippy will be. When he is stronger maybe we will put him in the backyard. Maybe he is stronger already, maybe he will never be stronger.
What do you think I should do with Fillpy?

I will celebrate it with an outcry when finally my fingers will touch my toes. Kapotasana this deep back bending pose has the potential to drive me crazy. One day the circle will be closed, I know this and then this pose is mine. By now the finger only try to approach the feet.
Teach me to do your will, for you are my God;
may your good Spirit lead me on level ground.

Today’s
Nudey Tuesday product is the
E.L.F. Studio Bronzer -something that’s been recommended to me time and time again by so many. I’ve been yearning to try it for the longest time too and scored it for half off during one of the E.L.F. sales. I’m
really glad I didn’t pay full price.
The Packaging: Most of the products from E.L.F.’s Studio Line look like a bunch of NARS knock-offs. The Studio Bronzer is no exception. The bronzer is packaged in a plastic matte black compact with a convenient mirror inside -great for on the go. The reason I’m not too fond of the packaging is because it looks and feels very cheep to me (I guess you get what you pay for!)
Product Description, Directions, & Ingredients
The Product: I’ve very inbetween about this bronzer. On the upside, it’s smooth, fairly pigmented, and blends easily. It looks pretty natural in person and is good for a subtle bronze with a slight glow (the color isn’t too dark or light.) I really do love the shade that the 4 shades combined makes. Also, you can use the 4 shades separately if you wanted (for a bronzer, highlighter, blush.)
Now on the downside, the bronzer is a bit chalky and very powdery -tapping off your brush before applying is a must (check out the bottom photo.) I found that if I looked closely, the areas where I applied the bronzer looks cakey -even if I blend it out. This may be more apparent in my case because I have dry skin but just be aware of that. Also, in flash photos, you can see a lot of glitter! This is not something I’d wear if I was going somewhere where I’d be photographed (weddings, parties, etc.)
This happened after using the bronzer once. See how powdery it is?!
The Color: All shades contain shimmer. (See above picture to see which number goes with which color.)

A month later, The Strand cover finally gets a make-over. The Edwardian flower seller is replaced with a post-Flapper yummy mummy and the motors are modernised. Almost too late, though, bearing in mind it’s 1929. And fairly soon the editors will realise that bespoke covers sell the contents better (although, of course, it would have cost more money to pay for the artists to do them). I haven’t progressed far enough yet but I suspect this new-look cover fails to survive past 1930, especially with the constant changes in fashion during that decade.

‘Maidens of St Trinians gird your armour on,
Grab the nearest weapon, never mind which one…’
Brilliant. I’ve not bothered with the new versions – the one with Frankie Howerd was bad enough – but the very first, Belles of St Trinians, has one of the sharpest, tightest, wittiest screenplays ever, as well as a wealth of unforgettable character acting. It was also quite daring in its way (the school motto was ‘In flagrante delicto’).

Only the first time it hurts. I speak about asanas. My experience is that each time when I repeat an asana it’s a tiny bit easier and I can go deeper into that pose. Discomfort is fading.
Many of my back bending asanas need additional attention to grow and to flourish. I have plenty of time, the weather is best, I consider to do all the back bending asanas twice today.
When I think of fall fashion, visions of leather boots, luxurious sweaters and rich colors come into mind. These visions however are limited to designs for women and not so much for the guys. While we begin to shop for fall essentials and trends, I encourage us all to do the same for the men in our lives. Taking a cue from “Aidenâ€, I’m loving the laid back, cool yet put together look for the boys of fall.

Get “carried away†with fashion for your beau. A few pieces your going to love seeing him in this fall:
1. The Cargo Jacket: Because it instantly up’s the “cool factor” in any guys wardrobe. Even better if it’s in this season’s hot colors: charcoal gray or army green.
2. Dark Straight Leg Denim: Ditch the wide leg or bootcut look for a more polished straight leg style. Helps to lengthen the leg and create the illusion of height.
3. Leather Bag & Boots: A leather messenger bag for a laptop/briefcase will last him years and the boots add a bit of adventure to his everyday casual.

When I was young, I did ballet, and like many young girls (and some boys), I loved it. I had high hopes of living in New York City one day and dancing for living, no doubt mentored by Barishnykov or the elegant, eclectic troupe at Alvin Ailey. I would wear tattered jeans over my tights and live in a studio apartment (which, at the time, conjured up visions of an urban dwelling that resembled a spacious dance studio with an open layout and hardwood floors . . . oh, the irony).
In truth, a studio apartment is a shoebox; I could never live in NYC (the Yankees play there), and I’m built more like a beach volleyball player than a ballerina, not to mention my second toe is abnormally long and, therefore, a nuisance in pointe shoes. I digress . . . I loved ballet, and soon after I stopped dancing regularly in high school, I started doing yoga. At that stage, my flexibility came in handy, and I naturally gravitated toward yoga’s gracefulness and precision. And, I haven’t danced since.
While I’ve toyed with the idea of an adult ballet class here in Boston (heck, I live a few pirouettes away from Boston Ballet), I never make it past the mental check list of “where does one buy ballet shoes?” and “how ridiculous will I look in a leotard?”
Fortunately, I was able to bypass the check list and experience a glimmer of my ballet days last night at the gym. Yup, the gym. Perhaps you’ve noticed that ballet-inspired workouts are leaping into popularity right now. Some are fused with weights such as
Equinox’s Barre Burn or yoga and pilates (a la
Barre3- Madonna is a fan), and all aim to let you
plie your way to long muscles and a tutu-worthy tush.
I had a blast. I looked ridiculous. I can’t wait to do it again.

Lauren Conrad brought the “side braid†back into fashion for both summer 2009 & 2010. For fall however, I’m liking a sweeter more subtle and delicate style of hair braid.

I’m really quite obsessed with the look of this pretty little braid intertwined in a messy side pony/bun and floral headband. Wouldn’t this be the perfect look for a fall picnic with that special someone? I think so. Just lovely.

My great thanks to Robin for introducing me to Tim Minchin, whose genius he too has just become aware of. Although I have no doubt Tim Minchin (who looks like a cross between Carl Puttnam of Cud and Russell Brand and succeeds in being camper than either or both) would scorn my own interest and cautious beliefs regarding things supernatural, it doesn’t stop me hugely enjoying his rants against such things, especially when they are presented with such wit, wordplay and vim. And I have no doubt ‘Storm’ would have irritated me as much as she did him.

Four illustrations by Anthony Wallis from The Great Yokai Encyclopedia by Richard Freeman, just published by CFZ Press (you can find it on Amazon).
Yokai are traditional Japanese spooks, a blend of ghost, goblin and demon. He we have (top) a monstrous, malevolent skeleton; a weird, dumpy creature that likes to cut off women’s hair; a giant sea-cucumber which grew out of a dead girl’s discarded underwear and now menaces shipping; and a naked bloke with an eye in his bum, frightening off a Samurai.
Richard started work on the Encyclopedia when he realised very little had been written in the West about the rich heritage of the Yokai. He wrote an article on them for Paranormal Magazine in early 2009 but the book wasn’t launched till the Weird Weekend in Devon last month. The Yokai are lots of bizarre and gruesome fun: no wonder Japanese comics and films are so monster-orientated. Pokemon characters can trace their family tree back to the Yokai.

Take small steps for feeling calmer and more centered. Too much rapid change can actually aggravate us rather than balance us. Change your habits little by little allowing the new food/diet/exercise regime/meditation practice/waking up/going to bed ratio/[insert your own resolution here] to become a normal part of your routine and then you can enhance that choice by adding to it.
So if you are feeling stressed, worn out and exhausted you don’t want to add another stress factor to your daily life.

I knew that when I moved it would take a bit of a hit but I didn’t realise how much, both in terms of outfit posts (I bought so little stuff here with me that a major shopping trip will be necessary soon) and keeping up with the rest of the fashion world- as you are probably all aware, fashion weeks are well under way and I have not got round to looking at any of the shows yet. Bad bad blogger.

Let us get the facts right. We have been deceived in the name of religion for far too long. According to one version, ANJANI the mother of Hanuman was NOT a MONKEY. She was the daughter of Gautam Rishi and Ahaliya. She got pregnant without marriage, and in order to avoid further humiliation she was sent towards Hills, where she gave birth to Hanuman. She handed the child to his rightful father Kesari. It is believed that she was not even allowed to meet Kesari, so she threw Hanuman from a cliff, and Kesari on the ground below caught hold of Hanuman. Since he came by air route, he is also called Pavanputra.

We put off our shoes and walked along the beach. From time to time our feet were under water because the waves flooded the beach. Sometimes the water was up to my knees.

Setu bandhasana is the last asana of the middle part of the first Asthanga series. Years ago this pose was not at all a pose that I liked. I went into that pose and after one breath I had enough. All my weight was on my neck.
When I was in India two years ago I experienced a surprise. I wanted a yogini to take a picture of me when I practiced this pose. I was able to do this pose and to hold it rather long. “Wow”, I thought, “how comes this?” The reason: I got strong.

The weather is too good for yoga here in Brazil: it’s warm and the wind refreshes me from time to time. I will practice tomorrow, too, even though it is Saturday. Every day is a good day for a yoga practice.
When I was in college, I would often wake up at the ungodly hour of 8:00 a.m. on Saturday mornings (the college equivalent of roughly 5:00 a.m. for the rest of society) to attend an ashtanga yoga class in a church basement off campus. It was an incredibly challenging 2-hour class, and I was younger than the other yogis by a decade or more. I still recall how peaceful, reverent, and special these classes felt, and this Saturday morning ritual became my first idea of a yoga “event.” I would look forward to class all week, and, for me, it took on the air of a special occasion.
My peers, of course, thought I was a weirdo, and I can scarcely blame them. I would slip out my apartment’s front door, past the beer pong table, while my three roommates slept. One sunny Virginia morning, I trotted toward my car, yoga mat in tow, surprised to see that my neighbors were awake, along with their entire fraternity on the front lawn. Just a few hours earlier we’d heard them “sledding” down their carpeted stairs on cookie sheets, so I suspect they probably hadn’t gone to bed yet.
This might come as a shock, but they weren’t going to yoga. They were getting an early start on tailgating for the football game that day. Now,
that’s an event, especially in the South.
I winced when one of them asked me where I was going.
“Yoga,” I offered sheepishly (a hint of a question in my voice).
To which there wasn’t so much of a response as a confused and drunken expression (without being drunken, the expression would doubtless remain confused: what the heck is yoga? said the expression), followed by the generous offer of a huge red plastic cup filled with jungle juice. I politely declined, waved good bye, and drove away.
This month, there are several events on my radar:
Yoga Reaches Out/Global Mala: The largest yoga event in New England to date, this daylong yoga benefit for Children’s Hospital Boston and Yoga for Single Moms will be held at Gillette Stadium, home to the New England Patriots. This event coincides with Global Mala, an annual yoga event, wherein yogis around the world gather in their respective cities to practice yoga and support local and national charitable organizations (is your city participating?). I’ll be teaching at Boston’s Global Mala at Gillette, along with featured om gal pals such as
Chanel Luck,
Bonnie Argo, and
Amy Leydon. The day’s headliner will be Ana Forest, creator of
Forest Yoga, who is sure to bring her A-game.

Over the past few days, I’ve been really peeved over the whole Terry Jones and Qu’ran Burning situation. To me, what he’s doing is all about “getting even.” I’ve also noticed that getting even will never get anyone anywhere. He burns a Qur’an, someone burns his Bible. He retaliates and burns down their Mosque and then they burn his church. Then everything just gets worse and more chaotic -how is that positive in any way? How does that help anyone? That only makes both you and the person/people you are trying to “retaliate” against more irritated and angry.

Is getting even always a good thing? Your thoughts?

I was able to score Serenity, which I’ve been wanting, for just $16.99!
The Packaging: Shiseido’s Perfect Rouge tubes are my favorite of any high-end or low-end brand. Because they’re heavier (not super heavy or anything), they actually feel expensive -not light and cheap like other tubes. The tubes are squareish with rounded corners and sides that arch inwards (totally stands out from my other round or square tubes.) And to top it off, the purpley onyx color is unique too.
A minor downside is that you can get slight fingerprints on the tubes -but it’s very hard to notice because of the tubes’ darker color. Now a major downside is the fact that the tubes don’t have the actual “color names” on them -instead you get letter/number combinations, in this case it’s RS701, which are always difficult to memorize. However, I do think these “combinations” are better than others because the letters give you a hint to what the color is. “RS” is rose, “BE” is beige, “RD” is red, “PK” is pink, etc.
Ingredients
The Product: At $25, the lipstick is a bit pricey but I find the price to be in the “middle” when it comes to high-end brands in general.
The unscented lipstick is very moisturizing compared to other lipsticks I’ve tried. It feels like a lip balm and don’t look super dry on my lips -even when my lips are already very dry. (I have a difficult time wearing lipsticks because they always end up sinking into my lip lines and looking dry.) Also, the lipstick feels light on and applies smoothly and evenly with no problems. And to wrap it up, the lipstick is semi-sheer with one layer but builds up to a very pigmented color with just a few more swipes. The lipstick lasts about 5 hours (without eating or dinking.)
The Color: Serenity (RS 701) is a dusty mauve-y pink with a grayish cast to it. There’s no noticeable shimmer but it does have a semi-glossy sheen to it.

Overall: I’ve been loving Shiseido Perfect Rouge lipsticks for awhile now Serenity is a lovely addition to my collection. I highly recommend these -I think they’re better and cheaper than lipsticks from brands like YSL and Dior. The only thing I could possibly wish for from these is maybe longer lasting color and a cheaper price. Other than that, these are a solid A in my book (the final grade equaled to a 92% but I felt it deserved to be pushed up to an A.)
Where To Buy: T.J. Maxx ($16.99), Sephora, Nordstrom

Pictures: A typical meal. Salad (in one of the restaurants), followed by mousse maracuj (in another restaurant called Rio) and a caiphifrutta (had the first one yesterday, but I’m sure it won’t remain the last one).
I wrote a post earlier today that focused on Terry Jones and his plan to burn copies of the Qur’an on 9/11. I later updated that he had (today) decided to drop it which had be relieved BUT, I didn’t fully believe him. The reason I didn’t 100% take his word for it when he said that he was cancelling the Qu’ran Burning was because I don’t trust him -he didn’t seem sincere. And I guess I was right. It looks like now, just about an hour after my last update, the stupid Terry Jones went from cancelling Qur’an Burning day to reconsidering it because “HE was lied to.” What bullshit. He’s saying that he was told that the site of the new Mosque would be moved (but I don’t believe that was ever guaranteed) so that was the reason that he backed out of his plan. I personally don’t believe he was ever told that the Mosque would (definitely) be moved but who knows, I could be wrong -I wasn’t there.
Drinks at the beach: Today I had caiphifrutta. Caiphis come with almost everything. Wow was there much alcohol in it. I loved it, but one was enough.

I wanted to bring everyone’s attention to this article and situation in general that I’ve been hearing non-stop about over the past few days. My dad listen to news radio 24/7 so I’ve been getting fed spoonfuls of this man’s negativity (they’ve been talking about him nonstop.) Terry Jones, a pastor from South Florida, is basically really pissed off over the new Mosque that’s being built in N.Y. Now he wants to take it to the next step and declare this upcoming 9/11 as “Burn a Koran Day.”
This was the new single that was out when I saw them at the Tiv in Buckley; Generation Terrorists had yet to be released. First time I heard Stay Beautiful, I thought it was the best punk/new wave song I’d heard for 10 years – and as an old punk, that means something. A few months later I heard Motorcycle Emptiness, and decided it was the best hard rock song I’d heard in ten years. Amazing band – when they started. Hardly play them now but dug out Generation Terrorists recently and marvelled again at the quality of most of the tracks. And after that I played The Holy Bible, another superior album.

A dozen steps took me into a cave-like hollow, the cellar of a decimated house or shop. The source of the light was a lamp set on top of a large box. In front of this was a small man who leant wearily on a red-handled umbrella. He was clean, well-dressed – an apparition that did not belong in my ruined, dying world. He turned to me, and in the dim, intermittent light I saw a great sadness in his eyes.
‘I am sorry,’ he said, ‘I cannot help you. I have come too late again.’
He brushed past me to the foot of the stairs and stood there listening to the confusion above: the relentless, merciless slaughter of humanity.
‘I arrived too late at New Persia and Landfall and I am too late now,’ he murmured. ‘I must go. I must go on.’
But he remained standing and listening. I crept up to him, impressed by his stillness, his lack of fear. I leant against him, my head just reaching his shoulder. So we stood for what seemed an age to me who had been running so long, but which in truth was perhaps no more than fifteen minutes, until all fell silent. Then the stranger ascended the stairs and I followed him.
The ground now was littered with corpses: skeletons pinkly veneered with blood and cocooned in clothing.
‘Too late, too late,’ the stranger repeated, and then he turned to me. ‘Have you ever seen your enemy? The Thlaarx? These creatures you call the Hooded Ones?’
I shook my head.
‘They are invertebrates,’ he said, ‘bulbous, bloated beings, composed mainly of mouth and stomach. Each person who lies here now was devoured by a Thlaarx in seconds; their flesh sucked off, their innards slurped down and the refuse discarded in the same unfeeling way you might consume an oyster.’
He stepped a few feet further into the field of desolation, picking his way between the skeletons. He gazed into the distance, muttering to himself.
‘I know it is in their nature to feed like this,’ I heard him say. ‘I know they are constantly, ravenously hungry and scavengers now their world is gone. But to feed on intelligent life, to destroy civilizations…’
To me he said: ‘Well, my young survivor, you had better come with me. Indeed, you must. Whatever the cost, the Thlaarx must be stopped and I realise now there is only one way it can be done.’
The stranger hunched himself over, his hands resting on his umbrella, and he peered intently into my eyes.
‘I need you to look around you,’ he said. ‘Yes, at all this horror. I need you to take it all in and not forget it.’
Taking me by the shoulders, he turned me about. I could not avoid the empty eye sockets of the fallen. I saw the twisted flailing of stick-like limbs, crumpled clothing over fleshless forms, strands of hair clinging to clots of blood on skulls. I heard the chirping and pecking of birds as they picked over bones. Disgusted and furious, I shook myself free of the stranger’s grip and kicked out at a corpse near my feet. Its lower jaw fell open and it seemed to laugh at me.
‘Come on,’ said the stranger, and he descended the stairs again. I followed. Back in the safe semi-darkness, I found my voice at last.
‘Who are you?’ I stammered.
‘I’m sorry, I’m forgetting my manners.’
The stranger raised a short-brimmed hat and gave a little bow.
‘I am the Doctor,’ he said.
‘The Doctor,’ I repeated. I raised a bleeding knee for his inspection and showed him the scrapes and scratches on my arms.
‘I’m not really that kind of doctor,’ he smiled. ‘But I’ll put something on those abrasions to help them heal. And what is your name?’
I told him.
‘Well, come along with me, Zeris,’ he said. ‘Come inside. This is my home.’
He unlocked the door of the flashing box and ushered me inside.

I’ve been sick like a dog for the past 3 days (I was in Urgent Care for 4.5 hours Tuesday) but that didn’t stop my makeup-obsessed self from hopping out of bed to grab my TEMPTU
Retouch Highlighter Freebie at Sephora yesterday. (I’ve been wanting the Retouch Highlighter for ages but the price always stopped me from buying.) In the email, we were initially told that we’d be receiving a full size (this was corrected in a later email) so it was a bit of a let down. Onto the review..
If you didn’t already know, Sephora is giving away deluxe sizes of the TEMPTU Retouch Highlighter in 301 Champagne to VIBs when they go in for a demo of the TEMPTU Airbrush System. If you’re worried about time, trust me, it took less than 5 minutes!
The Packaging: From the looks of it, I think the deluxe sample packaging is identical to the full size version -probably just smaller. The highlighter comes in a pen with a brush tip. Instead of most “pen like” products, you don’t twist the top, you push the “button top.” I swear, I clicked the top about 30 times and nothing came out. I ended up twisting the top half off and using a toothpick to get the product out. Hopefully this problem doesn’t occur with the full size.
Product Description & Directions
Product Ingredients
The Product: The highlighter sort of reminds me of the Fresh Twilight Freshface Glow. The texture is like a light, sheer cream that’s not overly creamy and definitely not sticky. It can be applied more heavily for more of a heavy glittery glowy look or blended more for a sheerer, lighter glow. I love that it’s not irritating on my skin and gives a nice “glow” without being too flashy. I had it applied during my demo and it lasted for a good 6 hours until I washed it off at home. Also, it smells sort of like vanilla -but not overly strong.
Here’s what the inside of the top half looks like.
The Color: Champagne (301) is a light champagne nude with the slightest pink edge and lots of (small) silver shimmer particles.
Swatches..

Full Face.. (I’ve been sick so sorry if I don’t look too “alive”)
Above I have on the TEMPTU Airbrush Foundation, Blush, and Highlighter in Champagne.
And if you were wondering about the airbrush system, it’s actually really awesome. It didn’t irritate my skin, looked pretty good (I’m sure with a little more time and not so dry skin, it could’ve looked better), and most importantly, it looked natural -no cake face here! It felt really refreshing too and had a light scent. The only thing is it looks sort of weird around my nose (see above pic) and I think he applied it sloppily on my browbone. It also looks a little dry around my temples but my skin has been really dry.
Overall: I really like the TEMPTU’s Retouch Highlighter and would seriously invest in a TEMPTU system if I actually wore foundation on a regular basis and had the money for it. But because I rarely wear “regular” foundation, at this time, it wouldn’t be for me. The Retouch Highlighter however is great and I would love to own some other shades -I just wish it was cheaper!
Where To Buy: Sephora Click here for the printout to receive your free deluxe sample (It says my name but that doesn’t matter -just cut out the TEMPTU offer part. If you want to print out your own, check your email.)
And a few more things..
We stopped by this shop with a bunch of artwork afterwards and I met this super cute dog. She (I think she was a she) reminded me so much of my boyfriend’s old dog (she was recently put to sleep.) She was so adorable -I sat down on the couch because I felt pretty sick and she came over and laid on my lap.
Afterwards, we stopped for ice cream! I got Peppermint (one of my faves) and tasted really good and I think it helped clear my nose a little. Also, she really piled it on so I was super happy.
Also, I wanted to mention that
Plain Jane was not on last night! I’ve been following it and I didn’t even realize that last week’s episode was the season finale. =( I really love the show and
Louise Roe -I’ve never seen her on anything else but I just think she’s gorgeous and very caring with the to the Plain Janes on the show. I just love that it’s not your typical makeover show -the Plain Janes try to overcome their fears, learn how to flirt and be more carefree, and get full makeovers. I really hope the show comes back with another season.
And one last thing, the other day, I had The Best dream ever. I dreamt that I was over at my uncle’s house and for whatever reason, we were being delivered massive amounts of comfort food. I’m talking big party tray sizes of fried chicken, mashed potatoes, baked mac n’ cheese, and so much more. I started calling everyone to come over to feast with us and just as I was amount to eat a spoonful of yummy baked mac n’ cheese, my sister woke me up! =O

I woke up early again. I was the first who appeared in the breakfast room. I got my coffee.
Food is surely an interesting topic. The first day I was looking for jam/marmalade on the breakfast buffet, but I couldn’t find it. Our friend J told us that Brazilians don’t eat it for breakfast. They prefer eggs, cheese, fruit. Also in the supermarkets is not such a choice on jams like in Germany or other Western countries.
Fruit is super good here: ripe, juicy.
Juices are also so delicious and yeah cheap in comparison to other food. A mango juice costs 1,50 Euro!!!
Wines are not drinkable, except you like vinegar. Perhaps if I ordered a bottle from Chile or Argentina that would be better, but it is expensive and too much. I also don’t need it.
All the cocktails are good and affordable, too: Cuba libre costs 3,50 Euro, and there is a lot of rum in it, wow.

Here are my six top picks, four of them for beginners and the last two for more seasoned practitioners:
FOR BEGINNERS:
Priced at only 4.95, Yoga HD is the best one for the money. It has a pretty big selection of asanas described individually in their Sanskrit name, with a quick description a picture and a video. They are labeled under the “Basics” “Intermediate” “Advanced” and “Guru” levels.
It also has routines that are pre-made which you can listen to with or without music. You can create your own sequences too. Also you can download all the contents by pressing the “Options” choice and therefore eliminate the need to be online in order to follow the routines.
One little thing that I see could potentially get on my nerves is that the voice-over is done by what seems to be a computer reading rather than a human directing another human into yoga poses. But it is just a small detail.
Pocket Yoga is a simple application whose main screen opens to two choices, either Poses or Practice. The “poses” screen leads to drawings of 36 asanas with their descriptions and benefits (in writing), which is interesting as a reference. The “Practice” screen lets you choose between an “Ocean” (high intensity), “Dessert” (to unwind) and “Mountain” (for concentration). You then choose the length of the class (30/45 or 60 minutes) and desired level (Beginner, Intermediate, Expert).
The drawings are beautiful, and the female voice is strong and sweet although I must say that the prolongation in the words “exhaaaale” and “inhaaaaale” could potentially become a distraction. The animations for asana transition give the right impression of what has to happen and the spoken directions are clear enough so a beginner would not have to look at the screen so much.
One bone I would have to pick with it is that I do not seem to be able to forward into a later section of the sequence and as far as I can see they all start with the same pose (child pose). Also, you are not able to create your own sequences.
YogaSpot is offered for free, which is a nice plus. Also the teacher is a real person giving a class. Thing is, only some of the sequences are offered for free, If you like it, and only then, you can purchase more. Some of the free sequences are only about 5 minutes, but then a long intermediate class for example is $99 cents, and there is an intermediate one free that lasts for 33 minutes. Not too bad for getting a real teacher.
The setup is divided into Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced practices. The intermediate section includes sequences named “Core Strength Flow” (for 99 cents), or “Spine and Shoulders” (33 minutes free). The Advanced section has “Whole Body Flow” among other 9, and the beginner section has a “Morning Flow” or a free 4:30 minute “Warrior Workout” which is also repeated at the Advanced level. Hey, it is free after all.
You can forward the sequences in case you feel like matching which is good, but the one thing I have to say is that it kicked me out of the application a couple of times, and it does not give the option to download into the I-pad for non-connectivity practice. Also, there is no sequence creation as they are all pre-made.
Authentic yoga with Deepak Chopra and Tara Stiles is a bargain at $1.99. The app is very stylish and uncluttered, very bright and inviting. You can create your own sequences, review poses and learn about breathing, body awareness, balance, flexibility and strength. there are short routines for “Tights and Hamstrings” or “Back Pain” among others and a whole section of short videos featuring Tara or Deepak on Meditation, or the four types of yoga.
I find the video of The Philosophy of Yoga by Deepak very inspiring.
The sequences could flow with a bit more grace, and the community part could be a bit more than just leaving an email address but this app is off to a good start, one thing I noticed is that they take it seriously and offer updates very often. One last detail is that I would have preferred to have Tara direct the asanas rather than having Deepak on voice over.
FOR MORE SEASONED PRACTITIONERS:
It is as if my life pre-seventh series is a wood-stemmed plant in the garden. A pepper plant, perhaps. A thing with age, generations, able to withstand the weight of the heavy fruit it produces. But that plant is dying, or dead, now.
To be lazy is an art.
We do nothing, having a late lunch does not count. Nothing means we stroll around. We watch surfers and youngsters playing soccer at the beach. I breath consciously. We walked to the Hemingway Bar when it became dark (6pm) to have a drink there. And again we looked at the sea. That’s it.
E asked me if I liked to make the trip to the dunes. I don’t need it. He does not need it either. It’s enough for me to practice yoga in the morning, to eat something and to stroll around. To smell and inhale the atmosphere at the beach is enough.
Must we travel so far for this? Yes!!!!!
The atmosphere is so light-hearted and friendly here. People are open. The weather is special. This mixture one does not find everywhere.
The tourists here are 99% Brazilians.

Ganesha Chaturthi is celebrated as the birthday of Lord Ganesha during Bhadrapada masam on Shukla Chaturthi.
It’s our tradition to invoke and worship Lord Ganesha before commencing any vedic and auspicious rituals. HE is the remover of obstacles and hence the name Vighnahartha.
As per Lord Brahma’s order, Ganesha assisted Vyasa Maharshi in writing Mahabharatha. It is believed that Ganesha broke his tusk to write this Sacred book and hence named Ekadantha. It’s a tradition among students to place Text books (particularly the subject that is tough for them), Pen & Pencils near Ganesha statue and pray for their success in examination.
Ganesha is called by various names. To name few…..
Gajanan, Shurpakarn, Lambodara, Vakratunda, Ekadanta, Aakhu vahana….aakhu meaning a mouse,
hasthi mukhudu… Hasti meaning an elephant and many more names. It is believed that AUM kara (Image of Aumkaram is sakshath Ganapathy Swaroopam).
Lord Ganesha is worshipped with Shodashopacharas. Durvayugma pooja plays a vital role. During this pooja, leaves from various plants are used to worship Ganesha. These leaves believed to have medicinal values.

Today I practiced again on the terrace. It’s so beautiful there, because the fresh wind dries my sweat while I practice. It’s warm here, the ideal weather so to say. Second series is a challenge. I practice slowly to make it easier. So many asanas are in the first stadium, they are performed very modestly: kapotasana, parighasana, karandavasana. I shoo away frustrating thoughts.
Repurchase: Yes
Price: $5.50 (4.2 g)
Product: 21/25
Packaging: 3.5/5
Value: 10/10
Overall Grade: B
The Packaging: The lipstick is packaged in black, plastic tube with a clear base at the bottom displaying the color inside. The cap is black with the NYX logo and product name written in white. The color name written on the top of the cap. I’m not too fond of the packaging -it’s cheap and not the most attractive but I guess it’s expected considering the bargain price.
I hate barcode stickers.. so ugly
The Product: The pigmented lipstick is on the glossy side and applies smoothly and evenly. I was impressed because the lipstick isn’t drying -most cheaper lipsticks are, and feels slightly moisturizing. The lipstick is also unscented (I’m not a fan of scented products) and doesn’t irritate my lips. It lasts for about 2 hours without eating or drinking -if my touch anything at all, the color disappears.
The Color: Pigmented violet with red undertones and violet and blue shimmer. This
sort of reminds me of
MAC Pro Violetta but
way redder (not a blue-toned) and with more lots of sparkles. The lipstick leaves a sheer, berry stain and lots of glitter when it fades.

Above (no flash): MAC Pro Lipstick in Violetta (This was applied lightly -sorry I don’t have a better photo of Violetta. I bought it but returned it since I couldn’t see myself using it a lot -esp. for the price.)
Overall: I really like Sparkling Orchid but being a nude/pale lippie girl, the color is out of my comfort zone. Although it’s more of a flashy lipstick, the formula is nice and you can’t beat the price! If you’re looking for a more glitzy lip color, definitely look into some of the NYX Diamond Sparkle shades. If you happen to get one, be sure to bring it with you though as the color isn’t the most long lasting.
Where To Buy: NYX Cosmetics, Cherry Culture ($4.00)
Purple Kisses- Yet another blog series dedicated to my love for violet, lavender, lilac, and mauve lipsticks and glosses.

I picked up these
LORAC eyeshadow singles from
LORAC’s VIP (sale) a few months back and wanted to share with you before they were gone forever. The following shades that I’m about to review
are discontinued but 3 of them are still available on the site. Also, sometimes LORAC will put sold out items back up if there are still some left in stock so keep a look out for them.
The Packaging: The eyeshadows are packaged in plastic black containers with matching twist-on lids. The lids have a clear “window” so that you can see the shade inside. On the bottom is the color name, size info, and ingredients. I’m not too fond of the packaging -it’s a little cheap, but none of my eyeshadows (or their containers) have broken so far so the packaging is surprisingly sturdy!
The Product: LORAC eyeshadows are in my top faves and these are no exception. Every shade is buttery smooth, very soft, and pigmented (takes 1-2 layers for excellent color payoff.) I’ve read reviews about LORAC’s new
Private Affair Palette containing eyeshadows that are so soft that they break but that is
not the case with any of these.
The only minor downside is lasting ability. These have great staying power in general but tend to fade a bit by the end of the day (about 8 hours) if worn without a primer. However, paired with my UDPP or TFSI, these stay on all day long and still look like new by the end of the day.

We walked to the beach and then I saw this hat at a stand. I had to try it on. I liked it, it fitted, so the salesman wanted to make an additional sale and showed a Brazilian soccer T-short to E. I looked at the man and said: We are from (pause) GERMANY. He understood at once, he laughed, I laughed, E laughed. He knew we would never ever buy a Brazilian soccer t-shirt. He showed the two thumbs downwards and we all laughed again. But I bought the hat for a special price, of course.

I miss the long weekend already… and with the rain we’ve been getting in north Texas, I could use some cheer! Some tacos and a recipe for the perfect “cheerita” should do the trick this evening.

One concept, two shows, just a few years apart. But what a difference in approach. The Invaders has the standard Quinn Martin Production intro, but I have to say it’s quite effective in building tension and giving a sense of realism to the whole thing. Gerry Anderson’s UFO stands for Unvelievably Funky Opening, though, and couldn’t be more different – style, excitement and ladies’ bottoms all the way. I can’t wait for 1980, can you?
Three more illustrations from the original serialisation in Pearson’s Magazine (1903-4) of Food of the Gods by H G Wells. Firstly, we have the giant chicken, followed by some horrible bugs and then the ultimate result of the Food, big babies. Ray Harryhausen was involved in an early proposal to make a film version and made a giant chick for it. The concept was shelved, however, but the monster chick didn’t go to waste – it was written into Mysterious Island as a prehistoric carnivorous bird, and appeared in one of the best-remembered scenes from the film, fended off by Joan Greengross of all people.

When I discovered yoga 30 years ago relaxation was programme. We put our body in an asana and there we remained. It seemed to me that it was an eternity till we should move our bodies again only to do another asana, also incredible long. Not to move, not even the eyes, not to scratch was important. Those who couldn’t be motionless showed that they were beginners. Nothing counted but to be still. The world could be shaken around us, we wouldn’t move. Nothing touched our minds, nor our bodies, nothing was important, but to be in an asana and to be still. To be relaxed towards what’s going on inside and outside was topic.
I saw this really fun tag on Steph’s and PoorCollegeStudent’s blogs the other day and felt like joining in. I love tags. =) Oh and I’m tagging anyone who wants to do this. If you don’t have a blog, feel free to leave your answers (to all or just some of the questions) in the comments! And let me know if you do the tag (if you have a blog) so I can check your answers out.

I picked up these
L’Oreal HIP Shocking Shadow Pigments a really long time ago and never got to review them. I was looking for a cheaper, drugstore option to see if they could really compare to their more expensive, higher end counterparts.
The Packaging: These come in clear, plastic jars with black lids. Each comes with a sifter and brush. The brush is alright -it gets the job done but I prefer my other brushes.
About sifters, I really like them. What I do is shake the jar back and forth (when it’s closed.) When I open it, there’s a small amount of pigment on top of the sifter and this way, I don’t make a mess.
The Product: All 3 shades are smooth and pigmented. You don’t need a whole lot of product to get good color payoff. There is also no fallout when I use an eye primer -I never go without one. These pigments are easy to apply and blend and I really don’t have any big problems with them. For me, they last almost all day (around 8 hours) and only fade a little bit (on top of UDPP.) The only thing I could ask for is maybe better color payoff (although pigmentation is already good -especially for a drugstore product) and more color choices.
Compared to say -my
NYX Chrome Eyeshadows and
Ultra Pearl Manias, I actually like these better in terms of color payoff. I’ve heard mixed reviews on these but it’s probably because some shades are better than others -all the HIP pigments I’ve tried have been great. Also, I’m not too thrilled about the “value” -you can get more product for less from most independent “pigment retailers.”
L’Oreal HIP Shocking Shadow Pigment in Beckoning
L’Oreal HIP Shocking Shadow Pigment in Striving
L’Oreal HIP Shocking Shadow Pigment in Progressive
Above are Restless & Tenacious pressed
The Color: All the shades are shimmery and have good color payoff.
1. Striving (228)- Teal that’s more on the green side The shimmer in this stands out more than in the other 2 shades. I find this to be a little sheerer than the other 2 but it still has good color payoff.
2. Progressive- Beautiful copper that looks almost foiled (when dry.) This is the most pigmented of the 3 shades.
3. Beckoning- A gorgeous medium bright blue with a great sheen. This is my favorite of the 3.
4. Restless (Pressed)- Creamy beige that reflects coppery pink.
5. Tenacious (Pressed)- Bronzed rose gold

Overall: I think these are pretty good if you’re looking for pigments at a cheaper price. They’re pigmented, smooth, and are decently long lasting. However, $11.99 is a
little steep since there
are cheaper, better options on
Etsy or from other pigment retailers.

I bought 2 of the uber popular
Wet ‘n’ Wild Mega Last lipsticks in Think Pink and Just Peachy earlier this year at Walgreens. The main reason why I’ve been avoiding a full review was because the day I tested these out, I had also tested out a few other lip products. In the following days afterward, my lips started drying out like crazy, cracking, and bleeding -yes,
bleeding! Because I had tried other lip products that day, I wasn’t certain if it was these Mega Last lipsticks but I assumed it was..
The Packaging: I absolutely loathe the packaging for these lipsticks but for $2.99, I guess it’s to be expected. The light, not-so-sturdy tubes are all black with clear plastic caps with “Wet ‘n’ Wild” written on them. The overall feel is just so cheap.
What I hate most is the fact that the lipsticks don’t twist all the way down (see above pic.) Because of this, I have to be super careful while removing and putting the cap on or else I’ll break the lipstick.

The Product: I applied lip balm before applying each shade as it can feel uncomfortable and dry without balm. It feels alright while on my lips –not too drying but not moisturizing either. I found that both shades applied a lot better by “patting†the lipstick on instead of “slicking†it on like I normally would. By “stamping†the color onto my lips, it doesn’t cause my lips to look dry. Just Peachy looked really nice on my lips and didn’t sink into every crack in my lips. Think Pink looked a bit dryer –but that’s probably because it’s a paler shade. Wet ‘n’ Wild describes these lipsticks as “4-hour longwearing lip color” but for me, the lipstick lasts for about an hour and a half. I absolutely did not like the way it wore off –it faded in patches so it looked really gross.
Now for the verdict: Was this what caused my dried, bleeding lips? I think it was a combination of these Mega Last lipsticks and the “harsh” Winter weather that made my lips so dry that they bled. After trying these a second time around, my lips were definitely a lot dryer afterwards. However, I made sure to reapply my
Pangea Organics lip balm throughout the day and the dryness went away within 2 days.
Above from left: Wet ‘n’ Wild Mega Last lipsticks in Think Pink, Just Peachy
The Color: Like stated on the Wet ‘n’ Wild site, these have a semi-matte creme finish. Also, both shades are very pigmented.
1. Think Pink (901B)- Pale bubblegum pink
2. Just Peachy (903C)- Light peachy salmon nude
Swatches..

Overall: I would only repurchase the lipstick if there was a color that I had to have. While both colors are beautiful and just right up my alley, I can’t say that I’d ever use them. The lipsticks look great during the first hour or less of after application, but there are too many things that would keep me from wearing them. I hate how they fade (which means I’d have to do makeup checks during the day -I dread those), they’re not particularly comfortable to wear, and they make my lips dryer afterwards. I could see these working a lot better for people who naturally have soft lips 24/7 (I envy you!) but they’re not for me.

Next Moon Day: Wednesday, September 8, 2010.
From Karyn Grenfell at Blue Lotus Ashtanga:
“Through practising Yoga we become aware of our own tendencies and the natural cycles that occur within and around us. Hopefully, over time we are able to function more harmoniously with ourselves and with the environment we live in.
Observing moon days connects us with the functioning of the universe and makes us aware of the effect the universal energy can have on us individually.” read on

1 Come, let us sing for joy to the LORD;
let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.
2 Let us come before him with thanksgiving
and extol him with music and song.
3 For the LORD is the great God,
the great King above all gods.
4 In his hand are the depths of the earth,
and the mountain peaks belong to him.
5 The sea is his, for he made it,
and his hands formed the dry land.
6 Come, let us bow down in worship,
let us kneel before the LORD our Maker;
7 for he is our God
and we are the people of his pasture,
the flock under his care.
Today, if you hear his voice,
8 do not harden your hearts as you did at Meribah,
as you did that day at Massah in the desert,
9 where your fathers tested and tried me,
though they had seen what I did.
10 For forty years I was angry with that generation;
I said, “They are a people whose hearts go astray,
and they have not known my ways.”
11 So I declared on oath in my anger,
“They shall never enter my rest.”

Before I could finally get my hands on a Barry M Lip Paint, I was seriously lusting after them. I had about a dozen shades on my wishlist and stalked the
Barry M site regularly. When I saw a really good deal for Baby Pink on
Ebay, I jumped at the chance because the shipping was cheap. Let me tell you, Ebay can either be your best friend or your worst enemy -I let the bidding war get to me. I ended up winning the auction
but paid about $14 (including shipping) which is
way too much in my opinion. So when it arrived, I had high hopes that the lippie would be worth my paying over 2 times the retail price.

The packaging: Barry M lipsticks are packaged in light, squared matte black (similar to NARS) tubes. “Barry M” is written in gold on the top of the cap and the color number (100) is written on the bottom of the tube. I can’t stand when companies do this -it’s a lot easier to remember a color name than some random number. This always makes me forget which shades I wanted to buy, which shades I already have, and makes it difficult to find which shade I’m looking for when I’m in a rush in the morning (if all the lipsticks are jumbled together.) Also, I’m not too fond about the tube being highly prone to dirty fingerprints.
The Product: In 3 words, the lipstick is dry, patchy, and pigmented. Baby Pink accentuates every single lip line and flake -even on a good day. I don’t necessarily find it drying in the long run (meaning it dries out my lips even after I remove it) but it is dry and stiff while I’m wearing it.
The first time I wore it, I applied it straight from the tube. I couldn’t see how anyone could like this as the color was so bright and in your face and my lips looked so incredibly dry. After a few tries, I finally got it to work. The trick is apply a good layer of lip balm, dab a bit of the lipstick on, and smooth it out. This was you get the great color that’s not so obvious and you get decent looking lips -not some crusty mess.
The Color: Baby Pink (100) is a pale but bright, milky pastel pink.
Swatches..

Full face shot! This was an older picture I found. Don’t you just adore those lovely, pus-filled pimples that pop up out of nowhere?!
Overall: If it wasn’t for the ridiculously great color payoff, I would’ve totally rated this a “C.” I’d like to try other colors because of the great pigmentation of these lipsticks -but I wouldn’t repurchase Baby Pink. Paler lipsticks, no matter what brand, tend to be dryer than the deeper shades in general so hopefully I have better luck with some of Barry M’s other shades. This isn’t an awful lipstick -I’m sort of in between. I do like the outcome (if I apply it carefully) but it could be a lot more moisturizing than it is.
And one last thing.. For us living in the U.S., these can be pricey. It’s a lot cheaper for those in the UK but with conversion rates and shipping, the prices do get rather high. Just be sure to look into lots of different retailers if you’re not from the UK and want to buy Barry M products.

Oh, I can slurp fresh mango juice here. The juices here are excellent. Slowly we adjust to the Brasilian life style. We go out with our friend J for dinner tonight: at 9pm!
The hot weather and the wind are great: wild life here, I think. Surfers are here, too, the waves of the Atlantic invite to ride them.

My yoga place is perfect here. I have room enough. I can keep the door open which is ideal, because then a fresh breeze comes in from time to time when I practice. It is warm and dry here, 27° Celsius, but there is always this fresh breeze.
Beach life.

Our German friend offers breakfast from 8:30am to 10:30am. It’s out of discussion I will practice in the morning. I want or need a coffee first, too. So at 8:30 I can get my coffee. At 9am I can be on my mat till 10:30am. Then I have to shower and by then breakfast time is over. During holidays I like to enjoy a common breakfast with E. So what to do what to do? I don’t know it yet, I don’t know.

Hungry as we were we headed to the beach so early where a lot of restaurants are. We needed something for our stomachs. Somthing is good….
