Nice piece

From somewaterytart over at Shakespeare's Sister's place. Be sure to check out the comments...they're quite interesting. I personally think the world, at least my little part of it, would be a better place if people didn't automatically assume physical contact was sexual. This is something I struggle with, mostly from a conditioning aspect.

A documentary I saw recently showed two Iraqi men walking down the street holding hands. (When/if I can remember what it was, I'll be sure to post as such.) One told the other (paraphrased), "If Americans saw us holding hands like this, they would think us homosexual." The other replied (paraphrased), "Whatever."

people are lame.

My best friend Erica and I have been besties since we were four. We lovies each other like sisters. You know, all that crap. So anyway we took a walk along the boardwalk today, and joking that she would make a great boyfriend for me because she's almost six inches taller, she put her arm around he and we held hands, and I put my arm around her waist. This I do not see as a big deal, nor is it an unusual occurrence for us. But as we walked by a rental house with some middle-aged people sitting outside, we definitely heard some kissy noises. And when we looked over, they all definitely looked away at the same time. They were not kidding. They were seriously mocking us. And I'm not being paranoid. I was being made fun of for being gay. Being straight, that's never happened to me before. So that was a first.

People are lame.

Holy Crap

This is already making its way through the House Judiciary Committee:
Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States to repeal the 22nd amendment to the Constitution. (Introduced in House)

HJ 24 IH

109th CONGRESS
1st Session

H. J. RES. 24

Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States to repeal the 22nd amendment to the Constitution.

IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

February 17, 2005

Mr. HOYER (for himself, Mr. BERMAN, Mr. SENSENBRENNER, Mr. SABO, and Mr. PALLONE) introduced the following joint resolution; which was referred to the Committee on the Judiciary

JOINT RESOLUTION

Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States to repeal the 22nd amendment to the Constitution.

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled (two-thirds of each House concurring therein), That the following article is proposed as an amendment to the Constitution of the United States, which shall be valid to all intents and purposes as part of the Constitution when ratified by the legislatures of three-fourths of the several States within seven years after the date of its submission for ratification:

`Article --

`The twenty-second article of amendment to the Constitution of the United States is repealed.'.
Uh...this one got snuck in nicely. Just what we need: 40 more years of BushCo.

Note the date.

Thanks to the Dark Wraith for the headsup. Feel free head over there for discussion. I'm sure I'll revisit this, but I'm still kinda shellshocked.

Note to self: Don't ever date a WH Press Secretary

I can prevaricate with the best of them, but this man would drive me fully insane. Full transcript at Raw Story.
Q Let's just be clear here. The vice president of the United States accidentally shoots a man, and he feels that it's appropriate for a ranch owner who witnessed this to tell the local Corpus Christi newspaper and not the White House press corps at large, or notify the public in a national way?

MR. MCCLELLAN: Well, I think we all know that once it is made public, then it's going to be news and all of you are going to be seeking that information. And the Vice President's Office was ready to provide additional information to reporters. There was no traveling White House press corps with the vice president, as there is with the president in a situation like this.
I'm looking for a yes or no in this and don't seem to be able to find one...just a "well, there was no press corps, so we had to depend on the kindness of Mrs. Armstrong to take care of this for us cause, gosh darn it, we were busy -- 22 hours later -- making sure Whittington wasn't too spicy. So busy, in fact, that we and our massive leak machine just couldn't get the word out sooner than she could."
Q I just want to clarify one thing. Is it appropriate for a private citizen to be the person to disseminate the information that the vice president of the United States has been -- has shot someone?

MR. MCCLELLAN: That's one way to provide information to the public. The vice president's office worked with her -- well, I should say the vice president -- the vice president spoke with her directly and agreed that she should --

Q But you make it sound like it's up to her to decide when it comes out.

MR. MCCLELLAN: -- agreed that she should make it public, and then they would provide additional information.

Q But why should it be up to a private citizen to decide when it comes out?

MR. MCCLELLAN: It came out -- it came out Sunday morning. I've told you the way that I've operated and the way I've provided information in similar circumstances.

Q Certainly different --
Still no yes or no answer. This is more of a "This one ain't my fault, damn you all. I didn't want it to go this way, but we're talking about Cheney here. You thought Nixon was bad? You think Bush is bad? Cheney learned from Nixon and expanded on it and taught Bush, who's not the sharpest burnt umber in the box."

The entire thing is full of hair-pulling almost answers. The upshot (no pun intended) is that Cheney shot Whittington around 5.30pm and nothing was said until the next morning cause the White House had to "get all the facts" in place. And it was up to a "private citizen" to disseminate this information...to the Corpus Christi Caller-Times. Sounds like Scotty suggested an earlier notification timeframe and was overruled.

For the historical record, no man has been shot by a sitting Vice President since Aaron Burr plugged Alexander Hamilton on July 11, 1804. I do not believe that Hamilton in any way resembled a quail.

Waiting for the "I went hunting with the Vice President and all I got was a lousy ICU room and a face full of pellets" t-shirt.

State of the Union

No, I did not watch. I can't watch that mouthbreathing asswipe, and I can't listen to his pseudo-Texan, fully Connecticut-Yankee ass speaking. I watched reruns of The L Word. Much better writing (only something like 5 writers instead of Chimpy's +/- 30).

I read the speech. It was weak. I could hear his whining: "Please trust me. Danger. Terror. Freedom." Yeah. Sure. "Trust me...let me tap your calls and read your emails and climb under your bed cause that's where the Boogy-al Quaida-men are. Gotta cookie?"

Whatever. Kinky's the only choice in Texas...saving myself for Kinky...

Yet another silly quiz

WHITE
WHITES are motivated by PEACE, seek independence and require kindness. They resist confrontation at all costs. (Feeling good is more important than being good.) They are typically quiet by nature, they process things very deeply and objectively, and they are by far the best listeners of all the colors. They respect people who are kind, but recoil from perceived hostility or verbal battle.

WHITES need their quiet independence and refuse to be controlled by others. WHITES want to do things their own way, in their own time. They ask little of others, and resent others demanding much of them. WHITES are much stronger than people think because they dont reveal their feelings. WHITES are kind, non-discriminate, patient and can be indecisive, timid, and silently stubborn. When you deal with a WHITE, be kind, accept (and support) their individuality, and look for nonverbal clues to their feelings.
