Mormon-chic from Mary-Kate

These images of Mary-Kate leaving the fashion’s night out press conference last week have been going round and round in my head since then. You may say things like “get a life!” or “read a book”,- both valid points,- but I am truly admiring the simplicity and modesty of this outfit. Has anyone been watching the series about Amish teenagers exploring the UK? Obviously it’s not the same kind of thing but i just love the longer skirt lengths and general covered-upness. With magazines constantly hailing “the maxi is back” and “the midi is back” and basically claiming that clothes for “real women” (whatever that means) are once again fashionable, it seems like people are realising again that a bit of mystery is a good thing. It’s not just about hiding the body, but dressing it, in beautiful layers and creating silhouettes. Far more interesting than a tank top and miniskirt in my opinion…

Also I’ve noticed several comments on various Olsen focused blogs (yes ok) expressing shock that Mary-Kate would allow her Birkin to become so battered. I think it’s hilarious. It means she uses it, people.
